Meet The Animals at Jedforest Deer & Farm Park
The farm is a typical Borders farm, with its flock of 1,000 breeding ewes, Hereford cross suckler cows, and arable land to which a commercial herd of red deer has been added.
In the Rare Breeds section of the park you can see lots of livestock, many of which have almost totally disappeared from our farms over the last 50 years. Some breeds were virtually extinct because new breeds have been developed to meet modern consumer demands.
However, because of other like-minded people and the national society The Rare Breeds Survival Trust, many breeds have been saved and a variety of these can be seen here at Jedforest Deer & Farm Park. A breeding programme has been developed, and most of the animals are pedigree and registered.
